Iran "Pooch" Brugueras was born on March 25, 1973 in Hartford, CT. He was born into a loving family. He attended schools in the Greater Hartford area including Sands Elementary and Hartford High School. Through all of life's experiences, one thing that stayed consistent for Iran was the love of hip hop and its culture. This led him to sell mixtapes outside of his mother’s party favor store in 1994. Iran knew he wanted more for his family and his community and he turned this “street” business into a store front in 2010. Throughout this time Iran had four children and got married. In 2016 Iran lost his son in a tragic car accident and established the 'Splash Fund' where he aimed to assist individuals dealing with mental health issues. Iran Jr. left behind his daughter Kylie who would go on to inspire her grandfather to make an impact on his community and the world. He wanted to leave a legacy not only for them but for others like him who may have felt like there wasn’t another way out of poverty. Hip Stop was never about being just a profitable business but a safe haven for those that needed it most. In 2021 Iran was diagnosed with Stage 4 Gastric Cancer and this prompted him to become even more focused on leaving an imprint on his immediate family and the world as a whole. In 2022 after yet another tragic loss Pooch was inspired to retire from the clothing industry and refocus on his health and well being and bringing hope to others living with chronic illnesses by sharing his own experiences and struggles and offering them a platform to share their experiences with others like them. Live your life as if there isn’t a tomorrow left, no excuses!!! YOLO!!
